MASATO OUCHIDA (he/him)
Masato, an IT professional gone rogue. Starting in the tech industry, Masato’s pastime was Ki Aikido, Linux, and PC video games. After Covid hit he began the yoga journey assisted by reading Breath by James Nestor, The Body Keeps the Score, Bessel Van Der Kolk, and The Heart of Yoga by D. K. B. Desikachar.
These books started the journey into yoga but by no means were the last. He’d done yoga on an off, but after Covid was declared “over,” he fully committed to Sarasvati’s Yin and Lori’s Power vinyasa at Seeking Space. After two years, much to his company’s dismay, he was recommended to take a 100-hour Yin YTT certificate from Sarasvati herself. After that he was able to teach Yin but didn’t feel confident teaching other asana, and went back for more. A 200-hour YTT with Annie Rosen and Anika De Vore. Soon after, he began teaching at NARA NW and continues online Chair and Yin Zoom classes for elderly populations.
TLDR: He started with books and teaches Yin and Hatha. In class he brings Hip Hop and Jazz. He leaves space for you to have your own thoughts (I won’t talk constantly the whole class). Long Shavasana and end with a reading. Some woo woo. Covid conscious.
