Yoga is inherently a practice for peace and social justice. We’ll explore in movement and discussion the first limb of the eight limbs of yoga, the Yama and Niyama, as tools for creating greater harmony and balance in our selves and in the world.
These tools for well-being and healing are accessible to all, regardless of race, age, gender, sexuality, socioeconomic status, religion…
In this workshop we will introduce the Yama and Niyamas as the foundational concepts of Yoga, and as guiding principles for living through a lens of equity and social justice.
Workshop details: we will introduce the concept of the five Yamas and Niyamas, move through an hour-long, guided practice embodying the philosophy, and come together in community for a discussion of how these principles align with our own values, how we can support each other in integrating and implementing those that resonate most with us, and connect to both the personal and social justice aspects of the first limb of Yoga.
