Fall is the ideal season for dropping into a meditation practice.
Whether you're brand new, looking to recommit, or curious about how to establish a meditation practice, this workshop is for you!
What is meditation? Many who practice yoga may not realize that meditation is traditionally at the heart of yoga practice, and in this workshop we'll look to the Yoga Sutra of Patanjali for instruction in building a steady, comfortable seat; centering with breath; and choosing a focal point for the journey. Emphasis will be placed on simple Sanskrit mantra that co-ordinates with the breath as a way to still the mind—however, other points of focus will be discussed.
Saturday September 14th; 12-2pm
Yoga mats, blankets, and bolsters will be provided for sitting. If you use cushions, a bench, folding chair, or any other smaller props, please BYO.
Learning how to sit comfortably and quietly in meditation and committing to regular practice, or sadhana, is a powerful tool from the yoga tradition for healing, mental development, and the full experience of yoga’s eight limbed path.
